Teaching

When I was eight, I asked for a whiteboard so that I could set up a classroom in my bedroom. In high school, I volunteered in elementary schools and then worked as a substitute until I finished my degree in TESOL. I have taught English in both Taiwan and China. Back in the US, I have had the opportunity to work with students with special needs in public schools and taught pre-school through fourth grade in private schools.

I worked as an early education writer for Hess International English Organization in Taipei. I edited several teacher's guides, textbooks, workbooks, and assessments for content, grammar, punctuation, and design. Try saying that three times fast! One of my favorite projects was editing a book of plays and skits. I even authored a few! I also had the exciting opportunity to write some storybooks for Hess curricula as well.

Extra Curricular

As an ESL teacher and writer, I often take on the challenge of creating my own curricula and materials when the current offerings are lacking or just don't jive with the current class learning style. Aside from writing and implementing ESL and Kindergarten programs, I also created Mandarin and Anime clubs for Cornerstone Learning Academy. It was a lot of fun designing programs centered around student interests.

I need to write every day! I really do. I hate writing sites, so I made my own blog to share random content with friends and family.
